Title: Brick Wall in Alford, Lincolnshire 1598!
Post by: rot1927 on Tuesday 24 April 18 16:19 BST (UK)
Hello there,

Is there anyone who could possibly help me find any details for the parents of George Brocklesby b 1598 Alford, Lincolnshire.

I seem to have hit a brick wall with my searches,  all I have are possibly  Father = Thomas, Mother = Dorothy?   where and when, a complete mystery and probably looks like it will stay that way.

any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

I expect that you will have seen a possible marriage for George on Family Search to an Alicia Atkin 4/6/1618 Alford Lincs.
regards.

Hi Paco,

yes I have those details thanks.

Hi it always puzzles me, why does the Groom have to be born in the county of the marriage?

PS Wish I could get back that far with my lot, but happy with BMD's back to 1746 will do me at present!
As an example my G Grandfather was born in Somerset but married in Pontypridd, Glamorganshire.

Hi keyboard86,

It appears to be the thing I have come across in Lincolnshire, that generally the groom marries his bride in her county/parish.

I was assuming that the birth I am looking for was in Alford? as the son was born there, maybe  I need to have a different outlook if I am to get any further!

thanks.

thanks. I believe it is general across Ebgland at least. The bride usually marries in her home parish, and often has her first child there too, though not always in that order. :o
