Title: William Craighead 1717-1805
Post by: themonkeymonkey on Monday 30 April 18 18:02 BST (UK)
I am looking for mothers name of William Craighead 1717-1805, father name is George Craighead 1689.  The witnesses at his christening were William Patton and William Gibson.  William married Jean Black and they had 4 children that I am aware of, William 1760-1831, Alexander 1764-1805, Robert 1768-1837 and Isabel 1769-1840.  Thank.

I note that William was baptised Cruden 20/10/1717 father George

His other siblings were ISOBEL 14/05/1720, ELSPIT 28/02/1722 ALEXANDER 11/05/1725 & JANNET 15/08/1729.

No trace of a marriage for George Craighead in Scotland but there are births for that name in Aberdeenshire where the surname is very strong.
There are 3 Craighead female marriages in Cruden, they may be siblings of George.
Agnas married Alexander Simpson 1711, Margaret married George Black 1714 & Elspit married George Jack 1716.

The only slight possibility for George might be George Craig who married Mary Cocker
6 May 1714 in Rayne. It will cost 6 credits on SP to find out but it’s a very long shot!
