Title: Some Cambridgeshire burials
Post by: MacGrigor on Wednesday 02 May 18 12:47 BST (UK)
Hello,

Can anyone find burials for:

John Pepper, died 1915, Cambridge
Henry Pepper, died 1887, Cambridge
Sophia Pepper, died 1855, Cambridge
James Scarr, died 1902, Chesterton
Eliza Scarr, died 1857, Cambridge

As well as Eliza Pepper, died 1890, Sevenoaks (may have been buried in Cambridge as husband returned in 1891)

I'd appreciate any help!

Adam

Eliza Scarr aged 14 buried 3 January 1857 at Great Shelford.

There are two James Scarr deaths in 1902, both in Chesterton district.  The one who was aged 85 was buried at Great Shelford on 4 July.  I can't see a burial for the other.

The Cambridge Independent Press of Saturday 4 July 1902 reports on the inquest on James Scarr of Harlston, aged 85. He was living in the home of his son, Alfred and daughter-in-law, Annie Louisa. He appears to have been suffering from some kind of dementia, and had fallen out of his bedroom window. The inquest was held on Wednesday 1 July.

The other James Scarr, late of Huntingdon Road and Great Yarmouth died aged 82 at the home of his son-in-law at 1, Hertford Street, Chesterton.

It's the second one. He was boarding at Great Yarmouth in 1901. Is there a date for that one's death?

Sorry, forgot to include the date: 27 May.

Cambridge Chronicle and Journal 1 April 1887
Late on Wednesday evening (30 March) Henry Pepper aged 65, tailor of Bridge Street, Cambridge fell down in what appeared to be a fit while visiting a  house in Parker Street. He was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, but died before he reached there. Inquest returned a verdict of "Death from natural causes"

Just to clarify: is the 27th of May the day James died or the day it was published? If it is the publication, can anyone deduce when he died?
