Title: Claypole marriages Finedon 1895
Post by: Newfloridian on Friday 04 May 18 09:27 BST (UK)
Hopefully a simple question of clarification. The FreeBMD marriage indexes for the June quarter 1895 list the following (Wellingborough 3b 282):

Claypole, Henrietta Frances
Claypole, Mary Ellen
Loakes, James
Pearson, George Thomas

I am certain that Henrietta and Mary were sisters. Henrietta married George, Mary married James.

The question is: was this a double wedding on the same day and was it at St Mary the Virgin, Finedon. Unable to find parish records on line.

Many thanks, Alan

I can't find an online site which has marriages in Finedon in 1895 - even familysearch doesn't have them free to view. The Bishop's Transcripts for that period are held at Northamptonshire Archives. They will probably be able to do a search for you but it will cost.

I cannot answer the question of the double wedding but they would appear to be sisters. They are both together on the 1891 census with their family in Finedon.

Mary Ellen Claypole born 7 Feb 1863 Finedon. On 1871 census with family, 1881 in service.

Henrietta Frances Claypole baptised 11 Jun 1871 Finedon, on 1881 census with family.

You could try sticking the references into this page:
http://www.marriage-locator.co.uk/

That will give you where they took place, provided it was in a parish church

And no, Finedon aren't on line, they aren't deposited at NRO. There was a local councillor who had a transcript, but he died a couple of years ago.

Hmm ...! That didn't help:

GRO Index: 1895 quarter 2, volume 3b, page 282:

Sorry, we cannot locate the church for this marriage. The entry is located between entries for Ecton and Higham Ferrers, both in RD Wellingborough.

Thanks for the thought

Many thanks, Sandy. Most helpful.

Second time into an examination of this Victorian family. We did a major investigation into their older sister, Sarah Elizabeth, last year.

Kind regards

Alan

Hi Sandy

The family which caused us  DNA consternation was Nutt - originating from Higham Ferrers - of which Arthur was renowned for the Nutt Shoe factory in Finedon. They were not in my personal tree but the Claypoles very strongly are
