Looking for a Henry James Hooper In 1901.His daughter Nellie married in 1930 in Farnham so hoping Henry lived in same area . His occupation was entered as commercial traveller , by 1930 he was desceased. Any help would be much appreciated. Regards Eirwen.

Your other post re Nellies husband was doubting whether the information Nellie gave for her father was right as they both had the same names. Have you found Nellies birth.

I know from the marriage certificate that Nellie was 24 yrs in 1930 so born 1906 ,but where. Also in everyone’s memory she was known as Nellie May. But in her marriage certificate she is entered as Nellie Doris.Somtime also known as Nora No Idea why. A great built brick wall in my research. Eirwen.

Who were the witnesses to the wedding

The marriage in 1930 was between Ernest George. Hersey (son of Henry ). And a Nellie. Doris Hooper (daughter of Henry James Hooper). The witnesses are I believe. a Thomas Honycombe and a xxx Holloway. , ( writing hard to read) The death entry is correct , but the problem is in the marriage it is Nellie DORIS Hooper and in the death Nellie May Hooper. WHY. Nellie May was born 1906. Have not located where yet Her father Henry James. Hooper was desceased by the time of the marriage.There is If course the possibility that the marriage might be of a different HOOPER and HERSEY. As you can see Henry James Hooper’s records are becoming very difficult to obtain. Regards Eirwen

Now that I know Nellie was registered as Nellie Doris (thanks to information supplied by a “lister”. ) and that she was born June qtr of 1905 . The only one that tallies is a Nellie born in Truro This entry just says Nellie no Doris. So without buying the Truro birth certificate ,is there any other way I can find out whe Nellie Doris was born I have the exact birth date month and year. Regards Eirwen

"Nora" is a short form of Eleanor. "Nellie" can also be short for Ellen or Eleanor. Perhaps Eleanor was her name?

From 1933 onwards the Herseys are at 49 Wyke Council Houses ,in Ash, she is always listed as Nellie May.
