Title: Wife and child of 2nd marriage of Rev Timothy Thomas of Islington (1753-1827)
Post by: rkive82 on Friday 04 May 18 20:20 BST (UK)
Timothy's first wife, Sarah Evans, died on 11th February 1797 in London.
 :(
Timothy remarried on 16th January 1798 to Ann Goddard, daughter of Samuel and Ann Goddard.
A daughter was born on 29th December 1800 and I believe this daughter was Clarissa.
What happened to Ann and Clarissa?
Thanks
Richard

Hi,

This could be a possible,

I noticed that Clarissa's baptism took place in a Non Conformist Chapel in 1800. There is a Non Conformist burial record on 12 May 1834 of a Clarissa Thomas aged 32 and had been living at Southampton Place, New Road.

Thank you Claire.
Robert Moseley Bryce Thomas (RMBT) 1840-1937 recorded an enormous amount of information about our Thomas family. For the daughter born to Timothy Thomas and Ann Goddard, all he says about her death is "date not known, but she was alive in 1827."
 ???
This could be our Clarissa then.

I just found a census record of interest.
In the 1851 Census record for Bristol St Paul, we have Ann Summers, 65, who was the widow of Rev Samuel Summers, the couple having married in Islington in 1815.
Also on this record is Ann Thomas, 91, mother of Ann and who is said to have been born in Banbury, Oxfordshire.
Eliza, 66, is Ann's sister, both having been born in Shoreditch.
Ellen Summers, 25 and Ann's daughter is the fourth family member at the address, 33 Wilson Street.
This appears to be a good fit for the Thomas family and Ann Goddard who would have been the step-mother.
Death and probate records might help us here.

So I think I found Ann Thomas née Goddard with her death being registered in Q Sept 1851 in Bristol.
 :)
Her daughter Clarissa appears to have died and been buried in 1834.
 :)
I'm going with this information unless I hear something to the contrary.
Thanks,
Richard
