I've been unsuccessful searching for census records or a death record for the Rev John Jones below.
???
"MARRIAGES. On the 4th inst. (4th December 1866), at Pencarreg Church, Carmarthenshire, by the Rev Thomas Jones, vicar of the parish, Richard Thomas, Esq, only surviving son of the late Rev W. W. Thomas, B.D., rector of Dinas, Pembrokeshire, and nephew of J. H. Thomas, Esq, surgeon and accoucheur, of Llanfechan, Cardiganshire, to. Catherine Henrietta Jones, youngest daughter of the late Rev John Jones, Vicar of Llansaintffraid, Montgomeryshire."
- from Potter's Electric News 12th December 1866
::)
Also - "On the 7th inst. at 36, Cambridge-street, Pimlico, aged 26, T. H. Jones, Esq, eldest son of the late Rev. John Jones, vicar of Llansaintffraidaid, Montgomeryshire." - from the Wrexham Register on 16th May 1857.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks Kay.
I added Thomas Hugh who died in Pimlico in 1857. I think he's living alone in 1851.
I'll try adding the others.
Richard
-
I think this is the family living at Vale St. Denbigh in 1841
John Jones 35 Curate
Jane Jones 35
Jane Jones 12 Denbighshire, Wales
Thomas Jones 10 Denbighshire, Wales
Catherine Jones 6 Denbighshire, Wales
John Jones 3 Denbighshire, Wales
William Jones 1 Denbighshire, Wales
Catherine Humphry 20 Denbighshire, Wales
-
Yes. Thank you Kay.
All the family fits here in the 1841 Census. I'll keep adding info to my Anc***** tree.

I wonder if this is the parents marriage
March 20, 1828 North Wales Chronicle - Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales
At Llansaintffraid Church near Aberystwyth by the Rev John Hughes Headmaster of Lampeter School, the Rev John Jones, curate of Denbigh, to Jane, daughter of the late John Hughes, Esq. of Alltwyd, Cardiganshire, and sister in-law of Rev John Williams - rector of the Edinburgh Academy
Kay
-
Thank you Kay.
This looks very likely and explains the name of John Hughes Jones.
I'm now wondering if the Llansaintffraid where John Jones was Vicar was in Montgomeryshire or Cardiganshire. ???
Richard
-
Yes - it does getting rather confusing!!
Kay
-
Found John's death
Rev John Jones Vicar of this Parish age 44 - 31 Aug 1846 Llansanffraid-Ym-Mechain. Montgomeryshire
Kay
-
Other trees on Ancestry suggest Jane died in 1847.
Richard
-
I can't see a burial for Jane in the same parish in 1847
-
The other trees don't give a place or date for Jane's death and she may have moved after Rev. John's death.
We have made excellent progress though. I'll post more info if/when I find it.
Thanks a lot.

Gosh! Thanks very much for all that Osprey.
We now have lots of info about the unfortunate family.
Catherine Henrietta Jones married Richard Thomas in 1866 and they ended up in Kansas, USA.
:o
I'll add all this to the tree on Anc*****. I bet those with more of a direct line to this family will really appreciate it.

William Henry is on the 1881 census in Llanllwni married to Mary with 3 children under 10 and 2 of them were born in Canada. RG11/5436 folio 43 pg 6. Later he's in Llanilar, Cardiganshire.
-
Thanks very much Osprey.
My closest blood relative is Richard Thomas who married Catherine Henrietta Jones, daughter of John and Jane. The couple emigrated to Kansas about 1871.
I shall go back to entering the Thomas family info compiled by Robert Moseley Bryce Thomas (1840-1937), but will add any more info that we find, of course.
I really appreciate your help.

Catherine in 1861
Tower Hill, Fishguard, Pembs RG9/4170 folio 5 pg 4
Catherine H Jones head 25 b. N Wales, Denbigh
William H brother 20 b. N Wales, Denbigh
Elizabeth George 19 servant b. Pembs, Milford
The marriage notices for Rev John Jones & Jane Hughes show his father to be the late Hugh Jones of Lampeter and hers to be the late John Hughes of Alltlwyd, the John Hughes who married them being her brother. The marriage was 11 March 1828.
http://newspapers.library.wales/view/3326670/3326673/9/
The NLW holds records for the Hughes family of Alltlwyd, some details here
https://archiveswales.llgc.org.uk/anw/get_collection.php?coll_id=20301&inst_id=1&term=Llanrhystud%20%7C%20Wales
so according to this, Jane's brother was John 1805-1852, her parents John 1768-1821 and Jane Edwards, previously married to Thomas Evans of Llanilar. John's father was William, vicar of Llanilar who married Dorothy, daughter of Thomas Evans of Talsarn. There should be wills, but the NLW website is undergoing maintenance this evening.

Excellent. Thanks so much Osprey.

Hi Kay,I wonder if you can help me find the birth of my 2XG-Grandfather in Llansantffraid,Gelli banks with his family Margaret (Lewis) son Llewelyn b.1836,daughter Mary b.1839.1941 census.
-
Hi Isabell21
Generally it is better to start a separate thread for a new query, but to clarify was the family surname Lewis and where does Llewelyn list his birth place as later census years??
Kay
-
I think this must be the family in 1841 living in Gelli Banks Llansaintffraid - Possibly should have realised the surname was Jones ;D
Llewelyn Jones 30 Montgomeryshire, Wales
Margaret Jones 25
Llewelyn Jones 5 Montgomeryshire, Wales
Mary Jones 2
-
The 1851 census lists his birth place as Llansilin, Denbighshire so maybe this is his baptism from FindMyPast
Llewelyn Jones
Baptism 24 Jan 1836
Llansilin, Denbighshire
Parents Llewelyn and Margaret Jones of Pandy Lledrod - Llewelyn is listed as a Labourer
Kay
Added -I couldn't see his baptism at Llansaintffraid
