I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about the Lingwood Poor Law Institution? I have just found my great great grandfather Abraham Burgess there on the 1939 register as a patient. Is this and Blofield Workhouse one and the same as when I search for the institution, Blofield Workhouse keeps popping up.
Many thanks!

Blofield Poor Law Union consisted of 32 parishes; one of which was Lingwood.
The new workhouse was built 1837 at Lingwood to a design by John Brown the Norfolk county surveyor.
After 1930, the workhouse became a Public Assistance Institution known as Homelea, housing the elderly, chronic sick, single mothers, children etc.
See: http://www.workhouses.org.uk/Blofield/
A photo on that site describes the buildings as Lingwood Infirmary.
