Fantastic thanks , do you think I would be safe to consider floss means or is short for Florence? if this is the case this is huge discovery as this was a photo which was at the bottom of the pile and was in the not sure category I almost missed this altogether , wow
Many thanks

In my experience Floss or Flossie is a name given by men to girls accompanied by a pat on the head. It bears no relation to their actual given name at all. My father in law called all his grand daughters Flossie. They all have quite different and distinct names, none of which is Florence!

In my experience, Floss or Flossie is a diminutive for Flora, which in turn, is often, but not always, an abbreviation of Florence. As is Flo.

Thanks for the interesting input folks I will keep working on the photo as maybe someone in Canadian family side will confirm , but this is a massive help to me as it drew my attention to a photo which could have been missed
Thanks again

For what it's worth, Ryan, I think that could well have been written by Jessie from your previous thread.

Thanks very much indeed - Ryan
