I’m trying to trace the parents of my great grandmother Edith Williment who married Wilson May on 26/9/1892.
I found a B.Cert for Edith 1871 born Norwich and I contacted the GRO to obtain it: Vol 4b, Page 156, Qtr 2 but they have been unable to find it. The marriage certificate shows her father to be Jacob Williment a labourer. The marriage taking place in Newcastle upon Tyne. As I can’t get her B.Cert I don’t know her mother’s name.
The 1861 census shows a Jacob Williment who is a labourer in Norwich with a wife Sophia. Unfortunately Edith is not on this Census as she’s not yet born. I can’t find Jacob Williment on the 1881 and 1891 census and therefore can’t make a link with the Jacob I’ve found.
Anyone with any advice? Thanks in advance.

There is an Edith Williment, mother's maiden name Cossey, according to GRO Online.
But the reference is Jun qtr 1869 (not 1871), Norwich, 4b 156.
-
What's the source for the date of the birth registration being 1871? I see that FreeBMD has it also as 1869. Perhaps this is why the GRO couldn't fulfil your order?
-
I see that Edith May's birthplace per post-marriage census is South Shields or Newcastle c1873, so a Norwich birth in 1869 doesn't look very promising in any event ???
-
More promising: Edith Eliza Willement, mmn Jary, Sep qtr 1872 Newcastle upon Tyne 10b 104?
-
The one bn Norwich seems to have a father called Gedge (yes, clear on the image)
1871
20 Gladstone Street, Heigham
Gedge Williment 29 booksleers asst
Ann P 30
Ellen 8
Edith 1 all bn Norwich
(ah! avm is on to something better!)

Sorry - removed mistaken post.

Could the move from Norwich and the name change(s) be linked - getting away/hiding from someone?
Interesting that they used their correct names for the birth registrations (and, if we have the right Edith, on her 1892 marriage).

There is a newspaper snippet, I can’t see anymore, re Jacob Williment illegally pawning two feather pillows and other bed furniture - Norwich 1864
Norfolk News, 30 Jan 1864
On Saturday, Jacob Williment was charged with illegally pawning two feather pillows and other bed furniture, the property of Mr Sharman, tailor, George St. The prisoner and his wife took furnished apartments of the prosecutor just before Christmas, and suddenly left them a few days ago. It was then discovered that a portion of the bed furniture had been removed, and subsequently this was found to have been pledged. The prisoner had been apprehended that morning in Norwich by Sergeant Berry. The prisoner admitted the charge and pleaded poverty as his excuse. He had been in the receipt of 12s a week. He was sentenced to two months' imprisonment.

-
Which siblings do you mean?
If you do not have a subscription to a site, you can find transcriptions of censuses on Family Search.

The list of siblings at reply #8 was compiled by searching the indexes at GRO Online.
