Title: burial of Robert
Post by: Finley 1 on Wednesday 16 May 18 14:52 BST (UK)
I have the NBI on disc.

but it is not helping me at all .. well only a little bit.

Please can someone find me the burial of this man:

Robert Clark / e   - who died in 1852 in Fillongley/ Church Lawford.  His death cert states - Fillongley Meriden - the 1851 shows him as in Hydes Pasture Hinckley.  Born in Church Lawford.

ok.. this man has made my grey hair whiter than white -  (well its out of a box really :) ) but :

I have searched for him since pre 1990 and we went to Church Lawford, Pailton St. Ednas in those days and all churches around no trace..

I found his will and it states he wanted to be buried in

Farnboro Warwickshire.  Hey cheers marvellous success............
So spent a lovely day down there
and NO TRACE --
A lovely local lady on the Parish council went through her records -- No Trace

they must have ignored his wishes and put him on the coal heap... or somewhere..

His Will is both useful and totally confusing - and then I found .. something that worried me to death as it was another will

with VERY similar dates and names.. but only so far.. the trouble is that one I cannot decipher properly..

I eventually attempted to follow the 'hints' from the will and go backwards and forwards with it.

It has shown some interesting links - but without a census or similar  Not sure - so many uncertainties....

its all guestimating and that does not suit me...

can explain more if needed

but oh dear -  bet you are all as fed up with it as me

Thanks bumble B  xxx appreciate your input xxx

Yes I have that.

So does that prove that they actually buried him there?

Against his wishes ?

And will there be a grave number or a place.. I have tried to access this previously.. but no joy.

It is a lovely place and maybe they wanted him closer -- or just ignored his wishes..

Please dont let it be the wrong will..   that is a no go.. there are so many things on that Will that show it is his.

I can only say that that is where the burial service was held, perhaps if you contact the church they might have the graveyard plan, as it is quite a big churchyard.  I've found unmarked graves in a couple of areas because of the plans.

As to whether someone ignored his wishes, I don't know.  Perhaps he had already been buried before the will was seen  :-\

You say you have the death certificate - what is the date of death, and was the informant a relative?   Bearing in mind that it was usual for burials to be completed within a few days of death.

When my father died, we had the burial part-arranged, when we got round to looking at his Will, to get started on probate.

We discovered to our shock that he'd specified he wanted to be cremated.  :o :o

Even my mother didn't know. So we had to start all over again. If we'd got as far as purchasing the grave-plot Dad would've have had to lump it!

Sorry Prawn Cocktail, that made me giggle :)

ha ha

right

death cert says:

371  1852 / 5th April ( Fillongley) Male   80yrs   Erysipelas   the mark of Anne Clarke   7th April 1852...

All in good time for the 10th  and Ann must be a rellie, but not found as yet.  His first wife was Ann.. so could be a daughter from that relationship....  that I just havent come across .. as yet

thanks

From the will:

Thomas and John Clarke = brothers
John Clarke = son
Robert, John, Thomas and Elizabeth Clarke = grandchildren
George, John, Thomas and William Holt = grandchildren of my late wife
Sarah Cockerill = daughter of William Holt
Mary Butterill = step-daughter

Thanks for that Bumble B

Yes that is the will I am working from

Because going through my records,  the names   Newman   Holt and Hall  all belong to my family either on a census return or something or other.

This is why I have found it all so difficult -- the children of his late wife.... began the crazy / ness -  which made me realise that the Sarah I had as his wife was NOT the mother of his son JOHN ..
She was his 2nd wife.
His First wife died and he married Sarah -- will attach a snippet...

It is so complicated - due to marriages and places  ... it is fun -- I have documentation.. but  can I prove the marriage is the correct Robert and Alice etc etc..   so its headache stuff.

His grandhildren are Robert  --  John   --- Thomas (my direct line) and Elizabeth

I have most of their bits and pieces :)
