Title: William Sands
Post by: MacGrigor on Wednesday 16 May 18 16:25 BST (UK)
Hello,

Can anyone find me a christening for a William Sands in Manchester, some point between 1815 and 1818? His age at death gives a year of birth of 1816 or 1817. He died in what is now North London, and sadly married shortly before civil registration was introduced.

I'd appreciate any help!

Adam

Yes, he married Mary Thompson in Clerkenwell in 1837. I've drawn a blank on her too.

Do you have the family in 1841?

Have you found anything of the niece Charlotte born abt 1835?

In 1861 207/65/26 this family are living a couple of doors away

Ann Thompson   71 yrs
Richard Thompson 45 yrs toy hawker
William Thompson 27 yrs picture frame maker

I wonder if they are connected  :-\

The couple aren't together in 1841 apparently. And I haven't been able to establish any facts about Charlotte or her parentage.

And possibly, that's an interesting connection!

I think Charlotte, the niece, married Thomas Cain in 1860.
Her father shows as John.

In 1861 207/65/26

She is living next door to William and Mary and shows as born Manchester.

Are there Catholic records for Manchester at this time? We have William Sands and his brother John, with a rough birthdate of 1816 for William. Both from Manchester. And Sands can be an Irish surname.
