Hello,

My Bass/Basse line ends in 1701 with the marriage of William Basse and Mary Gardiner. Can anyone find baptisms for either of them?

I'd appreciate any help!

I've never found burials but one would assume they'd be at least 16 so 1685 backwards.

Children;
Eliz 1701/2
Edward 1794*
Mary 1707*
Sus 1709*
Lovey 1712/13
Lovey 1715/16
Wm 1718
Jn 1720
Some have William as a Weaver

* under Basse

A lot of the children died young, both Loveys 1713/1717, Jn 1731, Mary 1744
Cant find Burials for William/Mary in Wootton but I only have access to FreeREG.

I did notice a SUS Gardiner buried there 10 Feb 1686/7, Wife of JN

Given those names John/Sus  possible Parents for Mary ?.
I can see 1 child for them WM Gardner 12 Dec 1664, note says see Garner*
Under Garner we have JN 15 Dec 1661 to them
Cant find any more children or a Marriage though.

familysearch has possible baptisms for William:

2 Dec 1666 Cranfield, son of John BASSE
27 Dec 1672 Shillington, son of William BASSE
7 Feb 1675 Cranfield, son of William BASSE
1 Jan 1683 Pertenhall, son of John and Joane BASSE

Cranfield is c5 miles from Wootton
Shillington is c15 miles from Wootton
Pertenhall is c18 miles from Wootton

Although there are some Wootton baptisms in the 1700s on familysearch I have no idea if the register from the 1600s has been transcribed, so I cannot rule out a Wootton baptism for William.

familysearch has BASS burials in Wootton, but not William or Mary.
