Please could the experts give me a date for this photo? It is by the itinerant north country photographer Allan Ramsden.
I love the little girls in their matching outfits.
It is larger than carte de visite size, the mount is about 4¼" wide by 6½" long.
Many thanks for any help :)

Hi Jen....The dimensions are of a cabinet card and I would suggest a date of mid-late 1870s.

I would say 1870's too.

That's great, thanks very much both of you :)

1880's.

1880's.
Thank you Jim.
I am trying to get to grips a bit with dating (failing miserably up to now). What do you see that leads you to know it’s 1880’s please?

The close fitting sleeve & neckline.

Thanks Jim :)

My book says a single red border was popular 1870-1879....it just shows you how info can be contradictory across various sources and fashions likewise depending on wealth.
