Title: Mary Ellen Casey born 1887

Location unknown, although may be around the Ballina Co Mayo area. Mary married Terence Maughan in September of 1916 in Ballina, Co Mayo. I’m currently searching for a birth record/parents of Mary Ellen. She passed away on the 1st December 1958 in Ballina Co Mayo. Many thanks in advance

Do you have her marriage cert?  What was her fathers name?

Have you looked for her on the 1901 Irish census?

Her father is shown as Barty Casey deceased.

I don’t have her marriage cert not her fathers name, I don’t even really know where she was born but suspect it to be near Ballina

I was thinking it’s either Barty or baxty. Not sure what baxty would be short for? This has reaffirmed however the traveller connection. I’m not able to read the address however? Is anyone able to transcribe? Also the occupations?

I think Mary Ellen Casey's residence on the marriage certificate is Bohernasup, Ballina, Co. Mayo, Ireland.

But Ancestry shows this  baptism record

Maria Eleanora (Latin) born 26th November 1886 parents Barthly Casey and Maria Casey, Bohernasup.
There has been an addition to the record re mother’s name - Hannan.

There doesn’t seem to be a civil birth to match.

There are several children to this couple.

I would think this man may be too old for Mary Ellen’s father but ages are often very wrong.

This is likely to be Maria, mother in 1911 http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Mayo/Ballina_Urban/McLoughlan_s_Lane/699960/ and she is a widow.

There are Caseys in Bohernasup and Ardnaree and they are probably all connected.

Annie and Patrick Kelly are with Maria Casey in 1911.

It is likely that births were not registered but marriages were, I think  ???

1911 shows a granddaughter, Gertrude with Maria.
