Look up appreciated please.I am hoping to verify the birth location of Joseph Wyatt/Whyatt thought to have been born Glossop Derbyshire s/o Samuel Wyatt and Mary Cooper.
I believe he migrated to USA and died 1948 Rochester , Monroe City , New York.
His death registration states that he came from Devonshire not Glossop Derbyshire.
I need a birth/bpt record in order to verify I have the correct person.
The 1871 Census states he was born Glossop.

On FreeBMD there are 3 birth regiatrations for a Joseph Wyatt - no middle name, in the Hayfield registration district which includes Glossop.
One is in Dec 1/4 1860 which would fit with an Oct birthdate. The other 2 are in the March 1/4s of 1867 and 1869 so don't fit the October birth date.
On the free GRO index the Joseph born 1860 has the mother's maiden name Allsop so not yours.

I don't think that is him. Thanks for looking.

1871 census has him born in Glossop:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:VBXK-B4Z
Likewise 1881 census:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q272-3TKY
I can't see a Birth Registration under either Wyatt or Whyatt?

Who did Joseph marry :-\

FreeBMD have a birth for an Ansilla Wyatt in Hayfield in Dec qutr 1861. This birth doesn’t seem to appear on the Gro site and this appears to be the only appearance of the name Ansilla anywhere on FreeBMD. I wonder if the name has been mistranscribed into the original index.

I think most unlikely although Hayfield expected Registration District.
He married Henrietta Camping in US having arrived New York on "Celtic" Oct 1883. His sister Hannah travelled with him.

Joseph Wyatt/Whyatt continues to escape me.
Thanks all for looking.
My search continues.

It could be that the birth was not registered, as registration was not compulsory until 1875.
October 1862 was right in the middle of the cotton panic so maybe Samuel and Mary had more pressing matters occupying them immediately after the birth.
By the time it occurred to them then (just as happened with baptisms unless the vicar chased parents) they may have just let it go.

Thanks Graham and regards.
