Title: Tudhoe Cemetery
Post by: Empty on Thursday 24 May 18 14:32 BST (UK)
Hi,
haven't been on here in a while and here I am cheekily asking for help. The nerve of some people!!
Discovered my gt grandmother is buried at Tudhoe Cemetery.I live in Scotland and am hoping some kind person on here can visit the cemetery and take a photo of her grave for me please?
She is Jane Wiseman; died 8th July 1896; buried 12th July 1896. She is in Section B; grave 346. I don't know if there's a headstone or if she even has the grave to herself.
I would be grateful for any help,
Moira

Hi Moria

Spennymoor Town Council have Tudhoe cemetery records online.

https://www.townswebarchiving.com/SpennymoorSearch/

A quick search of them only shows Jane Wiseman as being buried in grave 346.

There's only one other Wiseman buried at Tudhoe Cemetery, Hannah 27/10/1900 section B grave 759.

If you contact the Town Council they might be able to confirm if Jane has a headstone.

Cheers

Moira, I think I may well have Adamson ancestors buried there, and plan to visit in two or three months if you don't get a better offer. Also thanks to Jay, your links will be useful for me.

Thanks JayG for the info. That's where I found out where she was buried.
And Martin, thanks very much for the offer. Whenever you get there I'd be grateful for a photo of the place. She's in Section B, grave 346.
Thanks,
Moira

Moira, this thread

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=794673.msg6519389#msg6519389

discussing my possible ancestor from Tudhoe suggests that she might not be my ancestor. If this develops, then I will not be going there. I think to be safe you should make additional plans. Hopefully anyone reading this thread may come up with an offer for you. I'm very disappointed to think that I might have been researching in the wrong direction for a year.

Oh no, that must be so disappointing for you Martin. I had to delete a whole branch once and it's no fun.
Good luck and thanks for letting me know,
Moira

Hi, are you still looking for a pic? I pass that way fairly occasionally and happy to grab one if so. However, those location details mean nothing to me - but if you can contact the council and ask them where that grave is in terms of the overall cemetery layout, that should give me a fighting chance. It's a fairly BIG cemetery to go wandering around on the off chance...

As above, I visited as promised,  but it was an unmarked one.
