I would like to find any historical information about the Old Kent Road. Is there a site where I could find, for example, How many numbers were used when numbering the actual shops and houses. Many years ago of course. I have a picture of a cycle shop and the owner's name is Barnes. At 143, I can't seem to find that number anywhere. Written in the corner of the picture is 'Old Kent Road' Could it have been a street just off of the road? Thanks

In my 1930's London Directories the house numbers in Old Kent Road go up to 900+. It's a long road.
143 is not listed - see the snip below from 1934:
What period is your photograph? Does Mr Barnes have a first name or initial ?

His name is J.W.Barnes and I got the number wrong It is 840. And in the background there is a railway bridge about 100 yards away. The era looks to me late Victorian or Edwarian

You can see No. 840 on this map https://www.old-maps.co.uk/index.html#/Map/535129/177346/13/100765 Change the zoom level.
The railway Bridge is there as well as the other numbers of the buildings.

Hello,
This family are at 840 Old Kent Road in 1901
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X9ZN-N4J
Alfred Perrin is a Boot and Shoe Shopkeeper.
There is also a Walter Patterson and family in a separate household at the same address and what seems to be another dwelling which is unoccupied.
1911 looks to be the same re Perrin
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XWR3-F1G
But there are likely to be other households at that address as 1901.
No Barnes and no cycle shop 1901/1911 it would seem.
