William SHELTON was baptised Asfordby, Leicestershire in 1839, moved to Paddington and married. He and Eliza DOWNING had at least two children however both predeceased William as did Eliza.
Eliza died aged 55 and her death registered in Paddington May - Jun 1895. Eliza & William's eldest daughter Louisa Fortescue SHELTON died 12 Aug 1895 at Cane Hill. William was granted Administration of Louisa's effects. Their youngest daughter Alice Downing SHELTON had died in 1870 aged about 9 years.
The administration mentioned William was a grocer.
Unfortunately I am unable to locate William and hoping for some assistance.

Yes thanks Jennifer; thank goodness for the census records however to date I cannot locate William in the 1911 census but this may be more to do with research skills.

William Shelton appears to be on the 1841 and 1851 census living in Eaton which is described as "...a parish in Melton Mowbray district ... post town Branstone under Grantham".
It is apparently 8 miles as the crow flies from Eaton to Grantham.

In relation to this William SHELTON mention is made he was of Eaton Grantham, Lincolnshire. The William I am seeking was born in Asfordby, Leicestershire? The grocer aspect is interesting???
I wonder if William of Asfordby, Leicestershire had a son that I have not located??? But if this were the case he would have had to be born before William of Asfordby, Leicestershire married Eliza DOWNING in 1865 ??? :-\

That is definitely William born at Asfordby, Leicestershire whose father was Joseph a shepherd and the family moved to Eaton, Leicestershire after William was baptised.
