Title: Andrew Robson 1818 - ???? Who were his parents???
Post by: BW252 on Friday 01 June 18 13:41 BST (UK)
Trying to find parents of Andrew Robson b1818 Jedburgh.    Andrew married Elizabeth/Betty/Betsy Robson on 30 Sep 1842.
I have him in the following census:

1841 - Bongate Jedburgh with Margaret 1778 (Mo?) and Ann 1816 (sister?)
1851 - Bongate with family Adam 1844, Matilda 1842, James 1846, George 1848 and Matilda R  1850
1861, 71, 81 - Castlegate Jedburgh
Nothing after these dates.
Elizabeth died 28 Dec 89 Castlegate Jed - DC shows her as Illegitimate Mo Christian Robson and husband Andrew Robson.
Various MCs and DCs of the children confirm the parents as AR and ER
In 1901 I have found an Andrew R aged 73 going to the USA

I cannot find the following:
Parents of Andrew
Birth/Baptism
Death

If this is indeed "My" Andrew Robson then the only way to "prove" it is to find his parents who may be Adam Robson 1770-1828 and Margaret Turnbull 1778 - ????.   They had 2 other sons Archibald 1808-1889 and John 1816-1868 both confirmed.

Any help much appreciated.    I have searched Scot P high and low.

Hi Harry. I was just looking again at this family a few months ago, the parents were indeed Adam Robson and Margaret Turnbull. There is a death entry for Margaret Robson who Andrew was living with in 1841,
1852, June 13th, Turnbull, Margaret widow of Adam Robson, Mason, Jedburgh age 80yrs,
the previous entry is;
1852, June 2nd, Robson, Adam son of Andrew Robson, mason Bongate age 8yrs.

I have researched the brother Archibald. Will look for anything else next week.
Regards Amanda.

Amanda

thanks very much for this info.    Archibald is my GGG GFather.    My concern is that I cannot positively prove that Andrew is his brother!    Although lots of small things point to that fact.

thanks again

Harry
