I am looking for a MI for Janet who was married to Andrew McCracken. Have got her death certificate ...she was a widow when she died ...but can’t find her husbands so can’t go any further back...can anyone help find Janet and especially Andrew. Have searched all ways on Scotlandspeople but no luck in finding him
Many thanks

Are you referring to the daughter of William and Mary who died 31 Oct 1859 in Eaglesfield?

Hi Don
Janet’s parents were Thomas Harkness and Jannet Little. She died on 7 April 1859

Karen,
I must have broken SP, I can only see one for Hoddom in 1859.

The death certificate I have is listed as Jessie not Janet

Found her registered in Middlebie age 77.

Are we talking about your Janet or mine Don? I was hoping someone would have a MI or headstone details so I could find Andrew....do you have Harkness relations in Middlebie?
-
No, what through me off was you that your were looking for Janet Harkness Eaglesfield yet I know who that is and she was married to a Scott (my interest) and not a McCracken. So I went into my confused mode which at my age is easy to do. I had to dig up the Eaglesfield death to make sure I was ok and not quite ready for the home.
As far burials are concerned it depends which cemetery she was buried in. There have been posts concerning MI's for Hoddom at least one member has a book of the inscriptions. Do a search, I am sure you will find it.
Good luck

Haha....glad I am not the only one who thinks they are losing it. Trouble is so many people gave their kids the same names so it does get confusing.
I have Harkness on both sides of my family so that confuses me too

Looks like the family on the '41 census living in Stranraer, and a possible for Janet/Jessie widowed in '51 still in Stranraer.

My Janet was in Eaglesfield in 1841 merryhow. I have her death certificate but I am struggling to find her husbands death. She was a widow when she died in 1859 .

Who registered her death? Andrews profession on '41 census, children's names. These might help us find him.

Her son Andrew registered her death....her husband wasn’t on the 1841 census or 1851 and he worked in the limestone quarry
