looking at the register on FindMyPast I notice several entries have F.S and or M alongside the entries.
I was [articularly looking for John Parkhouse buried 1806 he has a feint M
Can anyone explain what the F,s and M stand for
This time it definitely isn't female servant some are for males!

For anyone looking it is 1806
ADDED - It has been written alongside the date. Further down the page it also has P.S. (I wonder if that was Private service)

I doubt if it has anything to do with Female Servants etc. Some of the names just have M, some have FS (Full service perhaps) There is one chap has F S & M and a widow who has M & F. Could the M be for Memorial eg headstone?

um so you too are in the dark I thought I was missing something simple here. i did wonder if it was where they lived but I can't find any nearby hamlets starting with F.S or M. Full service or memorial service could the memorial be a short service and indicate a tendency towards non conformism and not wanting a full church ceremony? At least one of John Parkinson's children was a Bible Christian. But that is questionable with the entry with F.S and M did the widow have a memorial service and funeral?? its very puzzling

I suppose you could always try contacting Devon Record Office or the Family History Society, if there is one, and see if they can shed any light.

Devon has a large and very active Family History Society called simply Devon Family History Society. www.devonfhs.org.uk
