Hi,
Doing a little research for a friend who has a curiosity but is not fully into genealogy.
Alfred Shutt married Alice Maude Strawbridge - Barrow In Furness - December 1900 - 8 e 1436 - On the off chance anyone is going to Barrow In Furness records office and could view the marriage record, it would be great if they could confirm the parents of Alfred and his age (if the age or parents are listed)
Alice was born 1877 appears on the 1911 census with a number of children but no husband Alfred. Alice also appears on electoral roll with her mother in 1921 Kelly's Directory of Birmingham and again a record in 1930.
We know that a son William Edward Shutt is transcribed with the wrong birth date on his death record and we know he spent time for various offences at HMP. Gloucester. He had spent most of his life in a Birmingham Children's Home, so we suspect that the father may have passed away or moved on.
We have lots of other information but Alfred Shutt is an enigma at the moment. Any information on him would be appreciated.
Thanks
Sandra

Sandra, the marriage was in 1900, according to freeBMD, not 1918.
For a look up,do you know which church? (i.e. C of E, Non- Conformist - if so which denomination?)

I had just found that Jen. I was wondering why he suddenly married her in 1918 having had all those children ;D
-
I wonder if he might be the Alfred SHULT born Bilston ~1873 living with the Breakwell family in 1901.
Says he's married?

Hi
Christening of son William Edward Shutt Bordeslet Ht 18.8.1909 to Alfred and Alice 54 Salop St engine driver.
Alfred is around at Windmill lane 1910 when Gladys goes to Corbett St School.
There is only one possible married Alfred Shutt on the 1911 census but of course I can't post it here.In any case he is on his own no more Shutts with him.
If I had to guess I'd go for Alfred Shutt born 1871/2 in Bradley Staffordshire stepson of George and Hannah Harrold, in 1891 as a stoker on a stationary engine at Dudley Rd Rowley Regis.
Father James Shutt.
It looks like he signed up for the Army in 1893 ,father James Shutt Royal Artillery 30.11.1893 but he may not have stayed in the army long.
It does look as though son Sydney joined up as he is on the absentee voters list for Birmingham 1929.
There is a Alice M Shutt death at Chepstow Dec 1956 age 80 which may be her.
Sorry just saw your post-that would fit nicely
