Do you have any more information at all? I counted about 20 Isobella Stobarts in the 1871. Some are married, but it would be difficult deciding amongst the rest. All seemed to come from the Durham or Northumberland areas.

Do you have the certificate? this would show the fathers name of both Isabella and William, making them easier to find.

Hi,

What was your Grandfather`s first name?  This would make it easier to find them as a family on the 1891 census and then we could possibly backtrack using their ages and place of birth as a guide.

Regards,

Maureen

I've found an Isabella Stobart aged 18 in 1881.  It seemed reasonable to suppose that she was in the Yorkshire area at that time.

RG11/4468/32 p 27
3 Backfield, Thornton in Bradford, Yorkshire

Mary Stobart W Head age 49 Housekeeper b Berwick on Tweed
William Stobart son age 23 general labourer b Plymouth
Isabella Stobart daughter age 18 Worsted Weaver b Thompson Devon
Emma Stobart daughter age 16 worsted weaver b Glimpton Devon
Alice Stobart daughter age 14 Worsted Spinner b London
Phillis Stobart daughter age 12 Worsted spinner b London
William Ellis lodger age 20 general labouer b Falmouth Cornwall
Jacob Collins lodger age 24 general labourer b Cork Ireland
Andrew Ball lodger age 21 general labourer b Bristol Somerset

Could she be the correct one?  I suspect that the places of birth are not quite correct - Thompson could be Topsham and Glimpton could be Plympton.

Phyllis Annie was registered with mother's maiden name Stobart and twins with mother's maiden name of Burton.

No sign of Thomas yet!

Hemsworth Registration District covers a large area I wonder where exactly Thomas' parents were married as this might give a clue toThomas' dad. I can't see a suitable death for him yet.

Hmm!  He`s not yours. He and his mother Alice can be found in the 1871 census in Clayton le Moors, Lancashire. He married an Isabella Pickup in 1868 and stayed in Clayton le Moors at least until 1911.

My grandmother's grandmother was Florrie, the twin of Eliza. All I know is Florrie married and her married name was Wood. I had no idea, neither did my grandmother that she had other siblings beside her twin Eliza.
