For a while now I have been losing access to RootsChat quite regularly around 02:00 - 02:45 am, it simply stops, I then get a 'time out' when I try to access it and sites like 'isitup ' tell me that the website is down. None of my other internet services are affected, just access to RootsChat.
I don't imagine that the RootsChat website is actually down, otherwise more folk would have noticed it and raised it as an issue by now. The problem seems to resolve itself on every occasion after a short while. But I'm just curious, can anyone offer up a suggestion as to what is happening? Could it be something like a proxy server that I'm routed through somewhere in the WWW regularly going offline for updating / maintenance?

I have a similar problem. I am in New Zealand and every day i lose Rootschat at the same time of Day.
I lose it between 1.30pm and 2.00pm NZ time even if i am already logged in. It just says Rootschat took to long to load or Rootschat is unavailable. (These times change when daylight savings in both countries change)
I was able to get back in to the site 42 minutes ago.
Just like gaffy it is only Rootschat i am having problems with.
Maybe someone can enlighten us on this problem.

P.S Not only you gaffy but me too

I think this is when they back up the server (or something technical like that) - every night around 2:15 in the UK, middle of the day here in Oz.
It's always when I finally get a chance to sit down with a cup of tea to see what's happening on rootschat!

Ahh...so it's NOT my comp after all!!!
I have this problem frequently (early hrs) & ONLY with RC too, to the point my comp crashes & I have to log back in which can take a while!

Oooh, interesting, it's stupidly comforting to know that I'm not the only person experiencing this ... :)

I've just learnt not to log in at that time. Of course daylight saving takes me a couple of days to get used to. I'm pretty sure I read once before it is backing up the data. Where are you gaffy so that we can compare the times.

Aah great thought it was my computer/ISP acting oddly! I'm in Napier NZ and the same as carol80, early afternoon it is very hard to get on, but pleased it is not just my computer. Must try morning tea time instead.

Yes it is the quietest part of the day/night to do our back up.
