Title: Unreadable Glasgow Street (Kelvin District)
Post by: Rockford on Friday 08 June 18 20:23 BST (UK)
Hi,

I cannot make out the street where this 1888 marriage took place in Kelvin District, Glasgow.  Can anyone with a bit of local knowledge help?  It looks like 28 Se----r Street and is also the bride's residence.

I've been poring over old maps of Glasgow for ages, and cannot for the life of me match it with anything!

Best wishes

Rockford

Seamour Street, which was off New City Road.

1892 OS map shows it as Seamore Street and it is north-eastish of Burnbank Gardens.  This northern section of New City Road is now named Maryhill Road.

Hi,

Thank you both - I had thought Dunsmuir Street initially, but although I had convinced myself that the first letter was an S, I had also convinced myself that the fourth letter was also an 's'  ::)

Now that I know it says Seamour, it is as clear as day! Thanks Nell.

Best wishes
