Hello from the U.S. My family came over from an area in Northumberland called Cowpen(Coupin) Quay Blyth during the late 1800's and early 1900's. My great, great grandfather never made it over and died in England 1897. He was a plasterer by trade and his name was Patrick Neiland. He married Rosina O'Reilly who was from Blantyre Lanarkshire and they had four sons Thomas, Peter, Michael-Henry and my great-grandfather Joseph. My Uncle Michael and my great-grandfather moved to a coal town in Washington state called Roslyn. After Their father's death, their mother came across the pond to visit her youngest sons and was accidentally burned and died from her injuries. She was laid to rest in the local cemetery in 1923. I have been searching for Patrick's grave and have been unable to find it. I can only assume he was cremated and taken home by one of the family, perhaps Thomas or Peter. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated. I have put a photo of my second great-grandmothers headstone, note she never went by her given name and always went by Rosana or Annie. Thank you

Welcome to rootschat, crowshill.
Is this his death, as it appears to be 1898 not 1897:
Patrick Neiland age 57 died in December quarter 1898 in Morpeth (Volume 10B page 267)
He could be buried in an unmarked grave - where have you looked for him?

Welcome to Rootschat Crowshill.
The Burial is also on FreeREG as Patrick Neiland, age 57, buried St Cuthbert, Bedlington 02 Nov 1898
Other Neiland Burials same Church which have address as Coach Road, Bedlington;
THOMAS P 26 May 1904 age 3 mths
MARY ANNIE 21 Aug 1905 age 4 mths
WINFRED 02 Oct 1906 age 4 mths
JOSEPH 12 Aug 1908 age 13 mths
JOSEPH 09 Sep 1908 age 27
(there are actually 2 Josephs reg 1907/1908 Mother Robinson)
Gro Death Reg has them as 1 and 0.
On GRO Mary Annie/Winfired/Thomas Patrick/joseph have Mothers mn as ROBINSON
So I think the Joseph age 27 on Burial above may be 27 days not years.
So sad Michael/Mary lost a lot of children young
I agree a unmarked grave may be likely for Patrick in 1898.
