Hi,
Charley Trusler's birth registration is on the FreeBMD index - Q4 1854 Steyning Reg District, 2b 201. Despite all this information I can't find him on the GRO site - I was hoping to find his mother's maiden name as he is proving rather elusive.
I have him marrying Martha Ann Trowbridge (born in Wiltshire Mar 1846) in Brighton 1873 and subsequent census entries and then his death in 1914, but nothing before his marriage. I have tried FindMyPast, Ancestry as well as FamilySearch and the SFHG members' database.
Given that he gives his place of birth as Portslade it is very possible his Trusler line is linked to mine but I have reached something of a dead end.
Any help would be gratefully received. Thank you!

Thank you both!
I tried other Trussler variants but should have remembered Truster appears sometimes. And the census hadn't come up in searches either - so that's a bit further back to go now - great!

Hi Jan,
No, I haven't found him in 1871 - the family are easy to spot when they appear as they seem to be bricklayers for several generations but annoyingly elusive at other times!

A contender. The surname is difficult to read so could be Trusler...

;D Thank you - I think you're right - it certainly looks like Trusler but agreed it is difficult to read!
