Title: work records 1850's
Post by: Finley 1 on Tuesday 12 June 18 17:28 BST (UK)
Does anyone know if Records were kept of specific Jobs in the 1850's.

I am attempting to clarify who My Mary Haywood was actually a Charwoman for? in 1851  -- will I find a record anywhere for this? or did they not have to keep records.  And she just go from job to job maybe... something like odd jobbing... and no ties..

????

She probably was self employed and worked on a daily basis for several people, there is unlikely to be any records unless she found regular employment in a large house employing many staff.

If she is the Mary Haywood in Ramsgate, she probably just got work as and when she could, it would have been a hard life. :'(

Thank you

No she lived in Barwell  Leics. and was working as a charwoman in the 1851 --  I was hoping to find who she was working for to help find her death... or future marriage.

We shall see.. I have another posting about her which I will link this to.
