Hi All
I logged on to Lancashire BMD website to look for possible marriage of Margretta Louisa Burnett and found one in 1916 ,registered in Chorlton on Medlock registers office.
Ref is CHO RM/252/112 but am confused that there is double entry ,same groom but different bride surname ,Burnett and Browne.
Can someone please help me understand this?
Also my Burnett originally came from Ireland,so not sure if this is mine.
Many thanks for any help

That would possibly indicate that she was married before ;)
-
It means she has two surnames listed on the certificate - one of which is likely to be her maiden name and the other a previous married name.

Hi,
It would indicate that Margretta Louisa was previously married to a 'Mr Browne'

Free search of 1939 Southport CB has
Henry G Battersby 1884
Margretta (L) Battersby 1884
Does this birth year tie in

Think this has to be the same couple found on family search. As both show Margretta as Battersby & Browne.
Possible death for her ?
Margretta Louise Battersby
Death Age: 87
Birth Date: 24 Nov 1885
Registration Date: Mar 1973
Registration district: Manchester
Maybe buried in Moston cemetery?

There is a Margratta Browne working as a bar maid at 80 Oxford St Manchester. Single and born county Derry, Ireland. So if she was single then, she must have married some time between 1911 & 1916 to Burnett if it is the same lady and posibly he died during WW1 ?

First of all thank you all for your excellent replies.
This is what I think.
This is my Margretta, who was born in Magherafelt,Co Londonderry on the 24 Nov 1884. I have her in Magherafelt where she had a son on the 12 May 1906'unmarried mother,no father on birth cert.
Not in 1911 census for Ireland,so I think that is her working as barmaid in Manchester,no sign of son William? And must have married Mr Browne previous to this date.
Your thoughts on this would be welcomed

Name: Margretta Louisa Burnett
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1884
Registration district: Magherafelt
Birth Country: Ireland

If you look at the actual image (link in my previous post) you will see that Magherafelt is the Registration District (as in the index) but not the actual place of birth.
