Title: The name of the father?
Post by: Jill Eaton on Wednesday 13 June 18 19:09 BST (UK)
Would anyone like to take aa guess at what the father's name on the this Latin baptism is please.

It's been transcribed on Findmypast as "Berd" and I can see why.

I'm inclined to agree with Find My Past's reading of it being Berd.  If you look at the 'e' in Johannes it looks virtually identical.  It may be that his quill dripped a little more ink and made the letter darker.

I’d agree with Arthurk and hazard a guess at Ber[nar]d

I have just googled "Berd" on a list of Irish Christian names. Apparently Berd is used as an abbreviation or variant of Bernard!
