I have recently started researching my family tree as I feel like it is interesting.
I made a start with my father's Grandfather, John Young Cowan, son of Thomas Cowan and Mary Young.
Thomas Cowan was a Gardener and he and Mary Young married in 1926 in Dundonald, living at Gillside Cottage, the home of Mary Youngs parents, lived in by her father,John Young a Carter and Annie Young (Agnes) maiden name Hart. Mary's full name before marriage was Mary Bryden Hart Young. This is where I start to become stuck.. Thomas Cowans parents were James Cowan, a plumber and his mother, Wilhelmina, maiden name McClounic. The parents of Thomas resided in Bay House, North Shore, Troon.
At marriage, Thomas was 24 and Mary was 19.
I am struggling at this point as I cannot find any information for Wilhelmina McClounie and the other parents. Any help would be appreciated.

Were Mary B H Youngs' parents alive when she married in 1926?
Annie

Yes Mary's parents were alive

Annie , I think John Young and Annie Hart are in Symington Ayrshire in 1901 & 1911.
Think they had a daughter Agnes W(ILSON?) Young born Shettleston Lanark c1900 , which might fit in wth the marriage you have found.

I have managed do get back to 1812 to a relatives baptism in Dumfries. It states 'Joseph, Lawful son of James Cowan' 6th April, 1812. But there is no information about Joseph's mother on this page. In fact, it is all fathers no mothers.
Where would you recommend me to go now?
-
Is it possible to give us a rundown of names/dates/places etc. from your Cowan g/father so we can see how you arrived at Joseph & James please?
