Title: Felix Wall of Dublin
Post by: Red Tom on Monday 18 June 18 11:34 BST (UK)
Was it very common for an Irish citizen to enlist in a British regiment?, I have found reference on Familysearch of an ancestor's service records 1917 to 1919.

Is he Felix Wall Lab. Corps ex Lancs. Fusiliers ?
If so he attested Nov. 1915.
Went overseas with the 17/LF Aug. 1916.
Transferred to the LB 1917.

Yes it's on Ancestry, don't know about FindMyPast.
Some of it's unreadable but you can get the gist of it.
His Batt. (17th.) were at Vaux-sur-Somme when he joined them, just in time to go "over the top" during the Somme Offensive.
The war diary is also on Ancestry.

I can give you a run down of it so that you will know what you're looking at, unless you understand all of the Army jargon of course.
