Hi everyone I have come across this note in some family belongings, however I don’t know where to start in trying to trace this relative. I looked at a couple of Scottish census I can’t seem to find her. Any ideas how I could track her?
-
Any date on the envelope or note?
-
Do you have any rough idea of a date? Can you discern any sort of postmark?
If so -- you may be able to look at electoral registers for that[/b] address. That should show who was living there - head of house anyway if it was before women obtained the vote!
The old Electoral Registers for Glasgow -- may be in the local library -- but I am not sure about that.
Just a thought.
(Edit -- sorry didn't mean all that to be in bold type -- I'm not shouting honestly!)

Hey all thanks for your replies I’d hazard a guess at early 20th century. I’m in Ireland so are electoral rolls on scotlandspeople?

I have just 'googled' Electoral Rolls, Scotland --- it seems that there are Glasgow ones on the Ancestry website - searchable by name.

You would need to have a subscription though.

I have found her thank you so much 👍

Really pleased for you.

You can search many of the Electoral Rolls for Scotland at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk free of charge without having a subscription to Ancestry.

Thank you Forfarian -- I did look on Scotland's People, but couldn't actually see any Electoral Rolls. That is useful to know and I will search more thoroughly next time -- did notice a 'Search by Place' -- and looked at that section -- but didn't really understand it.
Must try harder next time.

My apologies - it is Valuation Rolls you can search on SP. Slip of the brain.
