Title: Struggling to locate a Belfast birth - mystery
Post by: Gortinanima on Friday 22 June 18 18:14 BST (UK)
Trying to locate the birth record of Robert Henry Boyle reputedly in Belfast --- married twice

First
Robert Henry Boyle aged 23 a Private in the East Lancs Regt residing 18 Tyne Street, son of Hugh Boyle, engineer married Wilhelmina Alderdice aged 21 on 24 Aug 1927 in St Paul's Church of Ireland Belfast.

Second
On 3 March 1936 Robert Henry Boyle aged 27 widower & Butler of 51 Penrith Street Belfast son of Robert Henry Boyle , engineer married Sarah Carr aged 21

Robert Henry Boyle's army record states he was born 24 Jan 1904 in Belfast son of Hugh Boyle:

I have searched GRONI, 1901 & 1911 census returns for Ireland but cannot locate - it is a bit of a mystery.

I know you good folks on Rootschat might be able to help!!

Any suggestions?

Struggling big time, lol. There is the following birth which I'm trying to eliminate (ie. by tracking back parent's marriage etc.), the subsequent baptism took place in St. Mary's RC Church Belfast on 24 January 1904, but nothing else in the birth/baptism records fit or make sense with the marriage record  information:

I知 not sure I知 understanding this query correctly?

Is this who you think are the same person as it seems unlikely although they may well be related given their names?

1927 Robert Henry Boyle aged 23 (born c1904) married & father given as Hugh Boyle

1936 Robert Henry Boyle aged 27 (born c1909) married & father given as Robert Henry Boyle

Have you found the death of 1st wife Wilhelmina?

Annie

Good find aghadowey!

Maybe a later Sinclair/Boyle marriage & took on the new husbands' surname although not sure where the middle name Henry appears from?

Hmm,

Think we need to find out from OP how they arrived at the info. posted to figure what's what?

Too many things don't match i.e. a re-think of how the info. was established?

Second birth already posted at reply # 1. While the father's details don't match at all, the child's full name and baptism date have resonance.  The birth date was 20 January.

They are the same person -- I think his first wife died 1931 --

Wilhelmina Boyle 22nd June 1931 aged 23 Belfast

In the 2nd marriage he is recorded as a widower --

Both the first marriage and the army records state that his father was Hugh.

The second marriage his father was recorded as Robert Henry, which could be a mistake by the minister hence the confusion --

"Both the first marriage and the army records state that his father was Hugh.

Or, is it possible the mother was either married/in a relationship with 2 different men (whether related or not) named Boyle as an error with the names Hugh & Robert Henry seems questionable?

(I have someone in my tree marrying 2 sisters)!
