Title: Edmund Vimpany 1780-1836
Post by: SWar on Friday 22 June 18 20:14 BST (UK)

I am looking for an ancestor who was born around 1780 supposedly in Gloucestershire.   He married in 1808 in Brighton,  then moved to London where he had a family. He died in Gloucester in 1836. It has been suggested that he may have been in Brighton because he was in the military.

I have been researching this family for many years and it is littered with ‘Edmunds’. I have managed the trace them all except this one.  Is there any way I can find out if he was in the military?

Have you ruled out this one:
Edmond Vimpenny
26 August 1782
EASTINGTON AND ALKERTON, GLOUCESTER, ENGLAND
father:
Edmond Vimpenny
mother:
Rebeckah
Probable marriage:
26/12/1781 Fretherne Glos.(abt. 5mls. from Arlingham)
Edmund Vimpany=Rebecca Vail.
There's another birth to an Edmund & Rebecca:
Edwin 1801 Saul, Glos. (abt. 2mls. from Fretherne)

Thank you for looking.  Yes I have ruled out that one - he died in 1821 and Edwin died in infancy.
