I am trying to locate where this road was, can anyone assist me? It was there in 1951 when a relative of mine lived there and also in 1958, but since then it seems to have disappeared! I abbot find any trace of it on the 1939 census or on maps of Redditch in the 1970's.
Many thanks for any help

Hi Bobcats,
Do you know what part of Redditch Gross road was in? There's been an awful lot of new housing going up.
Could the name have been Headless Cross or Crabbs Cross. Both areas within Redditch.

Sorry, I have no idea where this road could have been! Tried to Google it but no results.

Next to try would be commercial directories. But do remember they took 12 to 18 months to be published.
You don't say the search terms you used but I found this London Gazette reference for some one changing their name:
https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/40523/page/3761/data.pdf so you're not cracking up. I used: "gross road" and Redditch. The double quotes are important.
If you can't find a directory then try getting to The Hive record office in Worcester and looking at the electoral register.
Failing that try contacting the good people at Redditch Local History Society: http://www.redditchhistorysociety.org.uk/
Cheers

Hi
Gross Rd was here. https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/405116/267996/13/101329 if that is blue when you open it, switch Print Extension Off (white square on blue ground top right) then just gradually zoom out until you see the old map, if you then zoom out a bit more you will see the modern map which shows that the location is between Sedgley Cl and the A4023 Coventry Highway.
