Jackie was born in Camperdown (Aus) and lived in Shepparton (Aus) and was a champion cyclist from c1904 - 1920. He was much adored in the USA and won most popular cyclist one year to win a car.
I am trying to find details of Jackie's life (after he retired from cycling) when he left Australia to live in the USA. In Wikipedia it says he died in Santa Barbara but I can't find any details of his death/obituary. Any help much appreciated.

Have you checked Trove (Aussie newspapers)?

Here he is 1915 I believe

I mention it as Trove has an article mentioning him in Newark, you might be able to fill in some gaps from there.

Yes, quite extensively but not much written about him after he retired. I figured there would be an obituary for him somewhere.

There's a John Clark, born - Australia, age - 56 (year of birth c. 1884), marital status - single, relationship - prisoner in Contra Costa County Jail, Martinez, California, previous residence date - 1935, previous residence city - same place, on the 1940 US Census.
The 1915 Census has year of birth 1888
New York Newspapers are on line http://www.fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html but if he died California unlikely to contribute.

I searched last night for John Adolphus Clark on family search and came across an army record and a passenger list from Australia, have today found a Canadian passenger list with him as Adolphus Clark and with his wife (matching 1915 census).
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QK3Y-RV1R
The army record, records his occupation as Hotel proprietor so I was being cautious despite the birthplace
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KZJT-J7K
but have since found this tree ref
https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LR15-YFJ
and they have his death as 22 Dec 1958, Santa Barbara County, California, USA
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/86795037
Just found his passport application
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QV5B-8567
says he came to the US 1906, professional cyclist and hotel proprietor

Hi Geoff,
I was very surprised to see someone else who is interested in Jackie Clark. I am related to Jackie through his mothers side and have been researching Jackie for the last 20 years. I have a large volume of newspaper articles about Jackie and quite a few photographs that I would be only to happy to share with you.
What is the background for your interest in Jackie?
Cheers
