Title: Parents of Mary Silvester
Post by: GenesA on Thursday 28 June 18 08:25 BST (UK)
Mary Silvester was born about 1824 in Wiggington and married John Rhodes in 1844 in Tamworth. On her marriage certificate, there is no father written down.
In 1851, there is a 10 year old Elizabeth Cheadle living with Mary and her husband John Rhodes. Elizabeth Cheadle was the daughter of James Cheadle and Sarah Silvester who were married in 1830. Sarah Silvester was born in 1804 and baptised in Tamworth as the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Silvester.

There is a baptism in 1823 for Mary Silvester, daughter of Thomas and Sarah. However, there is a ten year gap between the 'last' of Thomas and Sarah Silvester's children and the baptism of Mary in 1823. This leads be to suspect that Mary Silvester was the daughter of Sarah (born 1804) who later married James Cheadle and Sarah's parents had Mary baptised as their daughter in 1823. Could this be the way it happened or am I assuming too much?

Hello
I agree the daughter Mary baptised in 1823 does seem odd and mother Sarah senior  if she was born in 1765 which her burial 4.2.1849 suggests would be 58.
The 1841 census gives 60 so 1781 which is 43.
Not impossible but let's be honest it is more likely that Mary is the daughter's
