Title: Parsons and Newfoundland
Post by: southern_dude21 on Saturday 30 June 18 18:08 BST (UK)
Hi everyone, I’m new to this group.

My name is Timothy.  I am doing genealogy research for my family.  My grandfather’s mother’s line is Parsons.  At this point, I can trace my ancestors back (for sure) to John C. Henry Parsons (b. 1806 in St. John’s, Newfoundland and d. 25 Jan 1871 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA).  I believe his father was Jonathan Parsons (1777-1831 of St. John’s, Newfoundland), and his father William Parsons (1731-1811 of Harbour Grace, Newfoundland).  I’m not sure beyond this.  But, from my research, I have the following four leads that are possibly in my ancestry line.

1)   Charles Parson (Baptized at 1614 at Saint Saviour, Dartmouth, Devon, England) – son of Thomas Parson

I don’t know where in England these men come from, other than it’s probably somewhere in Devon:
2)   John Parsons of Clowns Cove (Carbonear), Newfoundland – before 1665
3)   Joseph Parsons of Clowns Cove, Newfoundland (was captain of the ship, Henry) – listed in Captain John Barry's report of 1675
4)   James and William Parsons – Bryant’s Cove, Newfoundland – 1667

Thanks for any further information you may be able to provide!

Tim
