Title: John SMITH 1841/2 - I'm stuck!

Hello Rootschatters,
I'm stuck on John SMITH dob 1841/2.   I can't find him on the 1841/51/61 census returns.  On the 1881 and 1891 it says he was born in Durham, Tanfield.  On the 1901 and 1911 it says he was born Durham, Oxhill.
He married Hannah Minto Gray 22/10/1864 and was living at William Street, Gateshead.  His father is John SMITH  :-\ a Plate layer (I guess on the railway.)  I've been stuck here for so long I was hoping someone might see a way forward to the next generation, another John SMITH, aren't I the lucky one ;)  Tab11

Potential on 1861 - based on place of birth being Kyo on 1871, and his sister's name matching his eldest daughter's. All listed as b Lanchester except where shown. Address is South Tanfield, township of Kyo

Durham Records Online have the baptism of a John Smith, father John Smith, pitman, mother Elizabeth, residence Oxhill  :-\
