Am puzzled why I can't seem to find any further records than the following-
1841,Hyson Green,Lenton,shoemaker apprentice.
1851,Lenton,servant and shoemaker.
1871,Nottingham,cordwainer,WIDOWER.
I cannot trace him in 1861,1881 and later censuses.
Whites Directories of 1862,1883,1885,1899 all seem to show him in Nottingham as a boot and shoemaker.
Between 1851 and 1871 he must have married and his wife had died.I have found a possible marriage to an Ellen Greatrix but not her death-the 1861 census would be a great help!
I cannot find a record of his death.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only Sheraton death I can find for an adult female in the area is Sarah Amelia aged 24, d1862, registered Radford district

Probate entry for a Joseph in 1878 - Joseph a compositor. Anne Bonsor the niece.

Very many thanks for all the responses ,will shortly be able to go through them all !
Interestingly only the 1871 census describes Joseph Sheraton as "deaf from birth".
Thanks again.
Colin.

Very many thanks to everyone for all the replies.
Putting all the records together gives a complete a picture of his life as I will ever get.
I did notice in the Hyson Green Chapel (Independent) records that there were three Sheraton burials in 1837 so close together-William & John on the same day Mar 21 (ages 27 & 37) and Sarah on Feb 17 (age 69).Did wonder if there was an epidemic or accident, would there be any way of finding out?
Thank you again.

You could get the death certificates if the deaths were registered Sep 1837 or later and find out the causes of death but I see all the burials were earlier in the year :(
