Title: Harwood's of Salisbury area assistance
Post by: grimnar on Sunday 08 July 18 14:25 BST (UK)
Hi all, I'm in need of assistance in finding the parents/siblings and birth/baptism of my 5x great grandfather James HARWOOD,

He was born around 1759 in Wiltshire. Married Mary COLE on the 16 Jun 1780, in Homington, Wiltshire and I believe died 29 Dec 1832, at Homington, Wiltshire.

They had the following children:

William Harwood - b.1780, Homington
Martha Harwood- b.1782, Homington
James Harwood - b.1783, Britford
John Harwood - b.1786, Homington
Ann Harwood - b.1789, Homington
Mary Harwood - b.1793, Homington
Jane Harwood - b.1795, Homington
George Harwood - b.1799, Homington

Any assistance would be fantastically appreciated. I have been hunting for this individuals family for many days to no avail.

Thanks you.

Regards

Hello
The banns were also called at Britford for the marriage and it was stated he was of that parish and she of Homington.

Also at Britford is a Mary Harwood baptised 16 May 1762 d of Rachel Harwood and William Barnes a carter to Farmer Moore  base born.
Rachel was bapt at  Homington 19.7.1725 d of James and Mary Harwood  ??

Could there be a connection there?
There is a removal order to Britford 3.3.1812 James Harwood husband of Jane from Homington .
Children Lucy and Samuel.
Did James go on to marry a Jane?
Sorry I see now it's the son.

Otherwise there is a James s of James and Lydia at Salisbury St Thomas 14.7.1757 surname Hored has been altered around the o .So perhaps a dodgy Horwed ?

Hi grimnar,

The only bapt I have found is for a James Harwood s/o James & Mary 23-12-1730 in Homington.

This might be the person you're after as he could have previously been married.
