hi
i have 2 cousins both  born 1838

1 parents henry jacobs and mary brownsell
2 nd         thomas jacobs and elizabeth fuller

thomas and henry are brothers

mary ann jacobs 1838-1912
married george wright 1860

mary ann jacobs 1838-1878
married 1857 jeremiah timothy  coleman

i am trying to work out which mary ann  belongs to which father

The marriage certificates will give you father's names, so you would need to purchase either the Jacobs/Coleman marriage certificate or the Jacobs/Wright certificate, or both if you want to be 100% sure you have the right Mary Anns.

Have you followed both Mary Anns through the censuses? Sometimes you can be lucky and find elderly parents with them.

Mary Ann who married George Wright in 1860, her father = Thomas Jacobs
