Title: WW2 aircrew brevet
Post by: doddsie4 on Sunday 15 July 18 20:56 BST (UK)
The attached photo is of my father's brother and I have only just noticed that he is wearing what I believe (after investigating it) is an "Aircrew Brevet").    I know that he flew in Lancaster bombers over Germany, but can anyone tell me what this badge means?      The badge appears to have AG on it.       Anyone know if you had to make a fixed number of flights before you qualified for the badge he is wearing?

Ady,
Wow!    That's fantastic.    He goes away, way up in my estimation now....

You were awarded your brevet at the end lf your initial flying training and before your operational conversion and well before you flew "ops".

Hi there, can you tell us anymore about his service, where he trained etc. ??

Would be interesting to many including myself.

I lost an Uncle who was a rear gunner on Lancasters.

Steve.

My father was an Air Gunner.  To get some idea of the training involved see here.  https://wallyswar.wordpress.com/gunnery-course/
