Hello,
Can anyone find details of the marriage of John Hughes and Elizabeth Bradfield in Broad Hinton in 1755. I have the date, as well as Elizabeth's christening. Hoping for John's parish to be listed so that I might find a christening for him too.
Thanks,
Adam

They are both down as 'of this parish' which is no help at all. it basically means that they have been residing in the parish for long enough to qualify to be married there and not that they were actually born there.

You're welcome.
I can't find a baptism for him im Broad Hinton but unfortunately it is rather a common name - a bit like all my John, George and William Smiths!

Yup, once someone's born outside the parish it's a sea of contenders ;D

Hi,
John Hughes bapt 12-8-1731 s/o John & Elizabeth in Wroughton.
This seems to tie in with a marriage in Broad Hinton in 1755 and with Elizabeth's bapt in BH. in 1731/2 d/o John & Esther. Both parishes adjacent.

Thanks! Can you find anything else on John's parents?

Hi,
There is also another child to this couple; 6-11-1733 Charles Hughes s/o John & Elizabeth Wroughton.
As for a marriage of the parents, the nearest I can find is;
Winterbourne Monckton; 4-4-1725 John Hews of Winterbourne Monckton to Elizabeth Bristoo [sic] of Calstone Wellington
These parishes are not so far away from Wroughton/Broad Hinton.
