Wondering if there are such thing in existence for the Isle of Man?
I have found a baptism
Thomas Cowley
Record type: Baptisms
Parish: Michael
Parents: Margaret Cowley
Baptism date: 17 October 1830
Gender: Male
and am wondering if there may be a chance of identifying the father?

What you will find (although not online) are "Presentments for Fornication"!
Vicars, deacons (or whatever title they used) had to make a twice-yearly report to the Bishop, in which they named their Church Wardens, and named those people who had transgressed church Law.
These people had to Present themselves before their vicar, in order to be admonished and punished.
The sin of Fornication ( a single woman having a baby) was one of these. Girls were expected to name the father of the child, so that he could be made to pay for the upkeep, rather than the parish.
Failure to do so resulted in a fine of (I think!) 2 shillings and 11 pence.
I may be able to ask for the Presentments for 1830 and 1831 the next time I visit the Manx Museum Library?

It's probably a long shot, but I have spent 17 years looking for the parents of Thomas Moore supposedly Robert Moore and Margaret Kewley, born unknown - circa 1830-1845, known to be in Australia by 1868.

Can I just point out that Manx custom was to name mothers by their maiden name, especially on births of children, but also on burials?
Ans also that Moore was quite a common surname on the Isle of Man!
But I'll see what I can find ;D

Margaret affiliated child on Thomas Faragher (or Fargher) noted in presentments for 1830 - the presentment does not name child but there was a bapt on your date naming just Margret and the child as Thomas
The child would be known as Thomas Faragher - often if the man comes from a different parish this would be noted but I've recorded no comment against Thomas Faragher's name
he can be found with Margaret in 1841 census at Ballalyie? in Kk michael - noted as 'nephew' in 1851 to head Wm
(bro to Margaret) and a saddler's apprentice in 1851

My husband has a DNA link to a tree containing Faraghers, but it also contains Kewleys :)
Lots of DNA links to the Isle of Man, hopefully they will meet at a known point at some stage!

re the Thomas Moore - there is a household in 1841 census headed by 60 yr old Robt Moore + 65yr old Jane moore -
children's ages 9,7,5 for Robt + 3 for Margt
Jane is too old to be mother but there are matching bapts to a Robert Moore + Jane Crinnel (Cath Crinnel for Margts bapt)
who were m in Bride in 1831 children bapt in Ramsey except for Margt bapt in Lezayre - maybe parents dead but can't see a match

I am fairly sure I have traced every combination that I can think of, so either there's some lies being told, or the records just aren't there, or I've just gone blind after looking for so long!
There's a Thomas Mylroi b 1838 son of Robert Mylroi and Margaret Kewley who I have not located after 1861, but that's a real long shot :/
