Title: 1807 Banns entry Tenterden
Post by: Melbell on Friday 20 July 18 15:11 BST (UK)
Dear Kent Rootschatters

I need to obtain the information in a Banns entry relating to a marriage in 1807 at Tenterden St. Mildred.

It will cost £13.75 to get a digital image from Kent Archives.  Before I order it, I just wonder if any kind person has access to these records? Or is there another way to get hold of it? I would be happy with the information in the entry; I don't need an actual copy.

Please - and thank you!

Fanilysearchwiki says images of banns for St Mildreds are on Familysearch

https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Tenterden,_Kent_Genealogy

Images are usually only available at LDS Family History Centres.  Do you have one near you?

Try searching FindMyPast

https://search.findmypast.co.uk/search-world-Records/kent-banns

If you don't have a subscription many libraries do.

Can you give the names of the people you want to know about?

Hi Bearkat

Thanks for your replies.  FindMyPast banns do not include Tenterden.  Unfortunately there's no parish clerk for Tenterden.  I might go to a LDS centre, or I might just pay up!

Hi Panda

The marriage is - St. Mildred Tenterden 16th August 1807, John SHARWOOD widower & Sarah BARNETT spinster.  I need to know the banns information to establish which parishes the bride and groom came from.  I suspect (hope!) that the groom was from elsewhere.

Thanks for your interest.

They are both listed as of this Parrish which only means they resided there for the three weeks before the marriage not much help

Many thanks indeed.  At least it doesn't disprove my theory about where I think/hope the groom came from (Peasmarsh, Sussex).  I am now searching for a likely baptism for Sarah, but so far have found nothing probable, in Tenterden or elsewhere.

You have been very kind and saved me £13.75.  I am extremely grateful to you.

Best wishes,
Melbell

Sorry to bother you again, but could you spare a few moments to tell me the dates when the banns were called please?

Thanks,
Melbell
