-
who was born in 1840
So she was around 69 when she married Emil and 82 when she filed for divorce - is that correct?
Would her death be under Nelson rather than McCarron?
-
I think her birth date must be later than 1840 maybe even as late as 1850 one siblings was born in 1838 the next sibling was born 1851. I would imagine it would be under Nelson when she died. i do not know the protocol of divorced women or men, do they revert their name to their previews partner.

Thank you all so much for the information which I will digest before adding to my tree. I wonder if Ann Jane left a will as I get the impression she was quite well to do. I am waiting for a will to be emailed from Australia as I believe Ann Jane inherited her brother Gerrard, estate in 1900 as all other siblings had died by 1900. Thank you very much again

There doesn't appear to be a probate listed at Archives

Hello,
Part quote from your first post.....
"I am looking for the record of Ann Jane Gourley who was born in 1840 in Clonleigh, Donegal, She married ALEXANDER MCCARRON on 2 December 1875 in Clonleigh, Donegal."
However the 1909 marriage notice states that she was the widow of the late CHARLES MCCARRON.....

She is for the daughter Edith, but Alexander was deceased then, and for all the other marriage notices on the page, it was always the father mentioned.

It looks like Emil Frederick Nelson was born in Norway, and his first wife also called Anne/ie (nee Broadhurst) in Australia, taken from their son Norman's WW 1 Army papers. This has been digitised and can be viewed or downloaded at the below site.
https://www.google.com/search?q=archway&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b
Looks like Emil became Naturalised about 1920.

Wow thank you for all the information. Ann Jane McCarron I believe may have inherited about £1000 from her half brother who lived in Australia, Gerrard Gourley who died in 1900, but I don't think they paid out for about 10 years as they administrators were advertising in an Irish Newspaper for a daughter Mary to contact them in 1910. I am waiting for a reply at the Public Record Office at Victoria, they said they would email me the copy, when they have a next available person. Ann Jane had a number of siblings still alive in Ireland and Scotland in 1908. I will see if I can find what ship she left New Zealand on in 1908. Interesting. Thanks again
-
I believe this may be the answer as to when Mrs. McCarron left New Zealand in 1908.
The article above dated 12.2.1908 mentions that she "leaves tomorrow".
In the following article under "Sailed".....
February 13, 'Warrimoo s.s.'- Passengers for Sydney- Mesdames............M'Carron....
https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/LT19080214.2.26?end_date=19-02-1908&query=++london+m%27carron&start_date=13-02-1908&title=LT&type=ARTICLE
[Papers Past seems to have packed a 'sad' as it is not highlighting that which has been searched for]
Minniehaha.

And this may be her return to New Zealand in October 1908 per the 's.s. Mokoia'......

It looks like Emil Frederick Nelson was born in Norway.....
Hi
I took a look to see if I could find Emil and found this person which looks very much like him. He was born illegitimate and raised as a foster son in the censuses. He was recorded as a carpenter's student:
Emil Fredrick birth 1859 - nr 135:
