How do I find out who lived at No 224 in the 20th Century, and where can I find out when the road first appears on maps of the area?
-
Go to https://www.old-maps.co.uk/index.html#/Map/618409/134964/12/100762 which is 1870-72 map then you can select the later maps from the left hand side for later dates. Change the zoom with the + - in the top left corner.

Thanks Stan, looks like properties appeared pre-1898

Hi on an address search I can locate a Seabrook Terrace in 1891 Hythe, and Seabrook Road in 1901/11/39, but no 224?

Hi Keyboard, I think the numbers were changed at some point in the past and that 224 was originally a two digit number
-
;D That helps!

Not only may the numbers have been changed but many of these houses were just known by their name.
Looking at streetview I can't see a name for the terrace. It might have helped narrow it down.

That is correct in the 1939, what is the nearest "Named" house to 224?

I can see I'll have to refer to Kelly's Directories at Folkestone Library, shame I'm 250 miles away!
-
224 is on this 1958 map https://www.old-maps.co.uk/index.html#/Map/618510/134981/13/101329

I'll have a look and see what Hythe Library has.
